The campus is located ~3 miles (~4.8 km) from Birmingham city centre. The meeting and lab course take place both at the University Conference Park (buildings G16 and G13 on the map) and the Physics East building (R10). Those who have booked accommodation should check in at Lucas House (G16). I will confirm check-in times for those concerned nearer the time. For those travelling by car, parking will be available at the Conference Park.
Local Travel
The university campus has its own train station. Trains run regularly (typically every 5-10 mins) from Birmingham New Street Station in the city centre to University Station.
It is perhaps a 15-20 min walk from University Station to the Conference Park, but buses 99 and 98 (in the direction of Birmingham city centre) run from University Station to bus stops on Edgbaston Park Road near the Conference Park. These bus services can also be used going from the city centre.
If you are arriving into Birmingham International Airport, you can take the ‘Air Rail Link’ monorail service from the terminal to Birmingham International Station, where regular trains are available to Birmingham New Street Station.
There are also taxi ranks at New Street Station and other parts of the city centre (journey time is around 10 mins).
The meeting starts at 14:00 on 13th Nov, and tea/coffee will be available upon arrival at Horton Grange (G13). Please note that given the start time, no lunch will be provided on 13th. Please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements for dinner on 13th and lunch on 14th.
We look forward to welcoming you to Birmingham. Should you have any queries in the meantime, please let us know.
